Where the Buffalo Bills fall in The Athletic's post NFL draft power rankings
Mandi Wright / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Athletic revealed their post NFL draft power rankings on Wednesday and the Buffalo Bills are right where they were before the draft.

After free agency, The Athletic had the Bills at No. 10 in their NFL power rankings.

Now that the 2024 NFL Draft is in the books, that's still where the Bills are ranked in The Athletic's power rankings, just behind the Cincinnati Bengals (Cincy fell from No. 8 to No. 9 in the post draft power rankings).

From The Athletic: The draft was another reminder that the Bills are in a controlled rebuild. They traded all the way out of the first round to add more affordable assets to the roster. The good news is they still came away with a pretty good receiver with their first pick, taking Florida State’s Keon Coleman with the first choice of the second round. If Coleman can develop a quick connection with Josh Allen, it will go a long way toward stabilizing Buffalo’s reset.

"Controlled rebuild" is a good way to describe the state of the Bills right now.

Buffalo isn't tearing it all down and entering a full rebuild. Instead, this is a bit of a restocking of the roster.

That's life for every NFL team with a quarterback who's no longer on a rookie contract (the Kansas City Chiefs, for example, have to rearrange the pieces of their salary cap puzzle every offseason).

While the Bills' roster won't be quite as strong as it was in past seasons, they're still the team to beat in the AFC East. And they're still one of the Chiefs' top threats in the AFC.

Any team viewed as a top 10 NFL team has a legitimate chance to win it all in 2024. The Bills might not be the favorites, but they should still be feared by the rest of the NFL.
